LINCOLN - The Lincoln Art Center presents, Elements: conversation & the art of chance, an installation of art works by Ruth Moritz, Great Bend, and Jodi Haselhorst, Plainville. An opening reception and gallery walk will be Friday May 26 from 5 to 8 at the Lincoln Art Center. The exhibit is open from May 19 through June 30, 2006.
Moritz says, "Upon first sight, paintings and images created by Jodi Haselhorst triggered a non-verbal response from me. They spoke in a very subliminal way, prompting me to ‘answer" them beyond the realm of the spoken word. A shape, a gesture, an ‘element’ elicited a desire to echo and extend the motif. Thus I arrived at the concept for this show."
Ruth Moritz is the director of the Salina Spring Poetry Reading Series, is a graphic designer, and was Arts Infusion Instructor, and well as executed interactive murals and public art in new elementary schools in Salina. Moritz is instructor of literature at Barton County Community College.
Jodi Haselhorst is currently a graphic designer for the Dessin Fournir Companies, has participated in gallery exhibitions at the Moss-Thorns Gallery at FHSU and the Deines Cultural Center in Russell and won first place at the Brass Ring Awards, Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma City.
This exhibit is free and open to the public at the Lincoln Art Center, 126 E. Lincoln Ave., Lincoln, Kansas. For more information call 785-524-3241.
