A Novel Approach is an exhibition that explores the narrative side of the visual arts. With ceramic work by Peggy Medina and paintings by Lori Wright, the exhibit offers a new approach to content behind the artwork through a variety of matter and media. The artwork will be on display at the Lincoln Art Center from January 16, through February 28, 2009. The opening will be Friday, January 16, from 5-7 p.m.

Lori Wright is an Assistant Professor of Art at Kansas Wesleyan University. She has a background in photography, drawing, painting and printmaking. She received her master's degree from Kansas State University in drawing in 2005. She is current working on mixed media artwork combining graphite drawing and acrylic painting. Her work is typically a combination of realism and abstraction in a layered manner. Subject matter is primarily figurative and is of adults depicted in their childhood years.

Peggy Medina received her Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts from Kansas Wesleyan University in 2005. She was selected to participate in the Artists' Exchange Mentorship program at the Salina Art Center in 2008. Ceramic sculpture is her preferred medium with an occasional found object and a variety of finishes. Architecture, history, popular culture, social commentary and humor are featured in her artwork. Recently, she is exploring the interaction of humans and nature by incorporating organic forms with structural elements, with the intent of drawing the viewer into her story.
