LINCOLN - "Connections", featuring the work of Nicole Baumann, Richmond, VA, Derek Cote`, Richmond, VA, Marguerite Cote`, Lincoln, KS, Bree McReynolds-Baetz, and Marion McReynolds, Lincoln, opens at the Lincoln Art Center July 7 with a reception from 5-7:00 p.m. This exhibit will run through August 25, 2007.
Baumann is a fiber artist who works with paper and embroidery images, she has exhibited her work in numerous galleries on the East coast.
Derek Cote` is a sculptor whose work has been shown nationally and internationally in exhibits from the Istanbul, Turkey to the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York to the California Institute of the Arts.
Marguerite Cote’s oil paintings, The Red Light District, is a new series created for this exhibit. Marguerite work was just shown in the Local Color exhibition at the Deines Cultural Center in Russell.
Bree McReynolds-Baetz is a graduate of Fort Hays State University, the focus of her work has always been photography, from working in the dark room to exploring digital images, she enjoys doing portraits as well as still life subjects. Capturing the native prairie landscape has been a long time passion.
Marion McReynolds has been creating limestone relief sculpture for many years. Marion has done a series of buffalo figure studies as well a profile of native people. Marion duplicated the Mystery Stone for the Lincoln Historical Society, her sculptures are in many private collections.
