"Against the Grain: Canvas Transformed" exhibited at the Lincoln Art Center, is an invitational challenge to create a new work which employs canvas as at least one element of its design. These innovative art works will be exhibited August 28 through October 16th. The opening reception and gallery walk will be Friday August 28 from 5-7 p.m. Michael Florian Jilg with The University of Fort Hays, will lead the gallery walk and present merit awards at 5:30.
These 45 artists from Kansas, Missouri, and California have stretched their imagination beyond just the canvas with 2 and 3-dimensional art works of collage, assemblage, books, wearable art, floor pieces, paintings and installation The artists from Kansas include Hays, Lawrence, Lecompton, Lincoln, Lindsborg, Lucas, Manhattan, Marquette, McPherson, Overland Park, Salina and Topeka.
